How it started
Russell and Linda Burger are the creators of Spice Restaurant.
Spice Restaurant was born in April 2003 in a picturesque courtyard on Florida Road, Morningside, Durban. After a 5 year stint in the heart of Florida Road, they amassed a following of loyal customers, who diligently followed them to a grand old house in Windermere Road in Morningside.
After 5 years in Windermere, they followed a calling to move to the North to be closer to their home in Westbrook. As fate would have the it a prime spot below the Bali Hai building became available.
The next chapter
2014 April the Spice Restaurant made their final move to the Dolphin Coast and to a prime beach front premises. Russell manages the Front Of House and Linda is at the helm of the kitchen.
The Indo/continental fusion that is displayed in the compilation of the menu is inspired by their travels and their respective cultures. The menu displays a harmonious infusion of spices, where the classics are given a modern twirl.
The new venue now boasts a deck where you can practically feel the ocean spray, and watch the dolphins frolick and the whales breach!!!, whilst mopping up a pungent curry or devouring a rack of lamb or simply snorkling over fish and chips!!!
The location and venue allows you to have the luxury of a bar lounge for pre-lunch or pre-dinner drinks with sweeping views of the ocean whereever you choose to sit. Or simply come for a sundowner or early cuppa.
An ideal venue for private weddings or functions.
Arguably the most romantic dinner venue on the North Coast.
